Moon Over Main Street Scheduled

Moon Over Main Street, a star party, will be held from 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM Saturday, October 5th, in front of the Gravette Public Library on Main Street. Members of the Sugar Creek Astronomical Society will provide telescopes and be on hand to answer questions. Attendees are encouraged to bring flashlights for use in reading star charts. The library will provide the charts and red cellophane for converting flashlights for nighttime use. Moon Over Main Street is one of three registered International Observe The Moon Night (IOMN) events in Arkansas with the others being in Little Rock and Warren. IOMN is an annual worldwide public event that encourages observation, appreciation, and understanding of our Moon and its connection to NASA planetary science and exploration. “Moon Over Main Street provides an opportunity for people of all ages to view the night sky through telescopes,” said Karen Benson, Library Director. Paintings by local artist James Killbreth will be offered in a silent auction with proceeds going toward library programs.
