Fire Department Conducts Large Area Training

On Saturday, July 27, 2019, the Gravette Fire Department hosted a large area search and rescue training. The training exercise was led by Chief David Orr, Lt. Jared Weston, Lt. Brad Harris, and Lt. Bob Bohannon. Departments from Bella Vista, Maysville, and Decatur also attended the training. The building formerly occupied by the Gravette Shelling Company was filled with fake smoke and rescue mannequins were placed throughout the building. Teams were tasked with locating and rescuing the mannequins. Large scale buildings can quickly become disorienting when visibility is limited, so it is important for crews to become familiar with the techniques used in buildings of large scale.

Thank you to R&R for allowing use of the building. Thank you to BMS for donating lunch.
