Council Approves Development Projects

At the regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Thursday, July 25, 2019, the Gravette City Council approved a large-scale development request from Casey’s General Store. The request was previously reviewed and recommended for approval by the Gravette Planning Commission. The proposed convenience store will be constructed in the combined lots of 404 and 406 First Ave. SE in Gravette and will be situated next to the planned O’Reilly Auto Parts Store expected to begin construction in the next several months. A representative with the engineering firm representing Casey’s told the Council that work is anticipated to begin within 30-days and the construction timeline is approximately four months. This is the first Casey’s General Store in Gravette and along the Highway 59 corridor.

At the same meeting, the Gravette City Council reviewed and approved the preliminary plat for a 54-lot subdivision in Hiwasse, making it the first formal subdivision in Hiwasse. The proposal includes one commercial lot with highway visibility. The proposed location is off Camille Lane, which is conveniently located less than one-half mile from both the eastbound and westbound on/off ramps for Interstate 549. “Hiwasse’s proximity to Interstate 549, Bentonville, Centerton, and Bella Vista, make it a prime spot for development,” states Gravette Mayor Kurt Maddox. He continued, “Development interest in the Hiwasse area continues to be strong and I am excited to see what the next several years has in store for this part of Gravette.”

The Gravette City Council also approved the large-scale development plans for a proposed RV and storage unit complex located near Banks Lane and Highway 72 in Hiwasse. A proposed mixed-use commercial building complex on the neighboring property was also approved. The RV and storage unit complex is being developed by Buddy Vernetti and the mixed-use commercial building complex is being developed by Jerry Eudey of Crosswalk NWA, LLC.
