New Events for Gravette Day

New activities are being introduced at the 2019 Gravette Day celebration on Saturday, August 10, 2019.

A car bash will be provided by the Gravette Fire Department (“GFD”). A rescue dummy will be placed inside a 1970’s era Mercury Sable and people may purchase the opportunity to bash the vehicle with a sledge hammer. Rescue personnel will demonstrate vehicle extrication skills by removing the dummy from the bashed car at approximately 3:00 PM.

The GFD is also raffling a Thompson Center Compass 6.5 Creedmoor rifle with a Leupold 3x9x40 scope. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and may be purchased at the car bash. Proceeds of the car bash and raffle will go to the Gravette Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary which supports the fire department, said GFD Chief David Orr.

The Gravette Day 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8:00 AM at Old Town Park with proceeds supporting the Gravette Police Department’s Shop With A Cop program. Shop with a Cop funds allow officers with the Gravette Police Department to take students from the Gravette School district shopping for Christmas. Children are nominated by the school counselor and come from a family who may have difficulty providing Christmas presents for their kids. Ozarks Community Hospital will provide first aid tents and water stations will be located along the route. The race will be chip timed and is stroller and leashed dog friendly.

The Kids Zone has been expanded with the additions of a rock wall, 4-Person Bungee Trampoline, Tubs of Fun, and Wizzer.

Main Street After Hours will be held beginning at 7:30 PM on the first two blocks of Main Street and will include karaoke, sidewalk chalk art, and extra-large yard games. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.

The full schedule of events and 5K map as well as the registration forms for the 5K, parade, and pageants are located on the city’s website at https://www.GravetteAR.com under the “2019 Gravette Day” tab.
