Mayor Maddox Provides Update on Bond Progress

August 30, 2017

RE: Update on ¾ cent sales tax bond projects

Citizens and Community Members,

In March 2016, the Citizens of Gravette approved the continuation of a 3/4 cent sales tax that funded bonds for

STREETS—$1.6mil / PARKS—$2.25mil / SIDEWALKS—$1.65mil / SEWER—$0.75mil

After fees and interest, the initial draw from this measure will afford the city with $4.83mil in usable construction funds. As of July 31, 2017, $1.38mil has been expended for these initiatives, collectively.

Projects that have been completed or are currently under construction: Main Street Revitalization / Old Town Park Upgrade (In combination with sizable private donation) Hiwasse Community Center / Old Town Dog Park / El Paso Street Sewer Upgrade / Dickson Road Paving / Gordon Hollow Road Paving / Kindley Park update and refresh

Projects in the latter stages of design that will be under construction within the next several months: Phase 1, Pedestrian/Bike trail (In combination with $500k State Grant) / Pop Allum Park Upgrade, with Soccer fields & other facility upgrades (In combination with $102k State Grant) / Civic Center refresh & upgrade Hiwasse Community Park (open 2018) / New Splash Pad & Pool facility upgrade (open Summer 2018) Various sidewalk upgrades, Trail Phase 2 (awaiting sizable state grant approval)

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns as the process continues. I sincerely believe these projects will reap significant benefits for our community for years to come.
