Gravette Day 2017 - Saturday, Aug 12


“Planes, Trains, and Main Street… A Salute To Our Iconic History And Great Future!” has been chosen as the theme for the 2017 Gravette Day to be held August 12th.

T-Shirts are available prior to the event at the Gravette Public Library on Main Street.

The day will begin with a Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast at the Gravette Middle School cafeteria from 6:30 to 10 a.m. The all-you-can-eat menu includes pancakes, sausage, coffee, and orange juice and costs $5.00 per person. A quilt donated by Betty Howard will be up for auction. Tickets will be available at the door.

A Car, Truck & Bike Show benefiting Imagine Before & After School Care will take place on the 400 block of Charlotte St. with registration starting at 11:00 a.m. A $10 entry fee is required. Car Show Registration

The Gravette Historical Museum located at 503 Charlotte St. will host the 5th annual Dutch Oven Cook-off. Please contact Randi Vannoy at 479-866-7297 if interested in entering the cook-off event. Judging of the entries will begin at 1:00 p.m. with first, second, and third place winners receiving $150, $100, and $75 respectively. The People’s Choice winner will receive $50. The public is invited to purchase bowls for $5.00 for use in the public tasting portion of the event which begins at 2:00 p.m. Winners will be announced at 3:00 p.m.

Local arts and crafts will be on display at the Gravett Bank Community Room from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contact Michael Kelly at 479-936-1424 for further information. [MORE INFO BELOW]

The Gravette Public Library will be auctioning sixteen themed baskets filled by over 40 local businesses. Ticket prices are one ticket for $1, five for $3, and fifteen for $5 and may be used to bid on the baskets displayed at the library beginning at 9 a.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Arvest Bank, Bank of Gravett, City Hall, and the Library. Tickets will also be available on Gravette Day at the library and the library booth in Kindley Park. Winning tickets will be drawn starting at 5 p.m. Winners need not be present to win.

The Gravette Day Parade will begin at noon and will travel from Charlotte St. SE north along Hwy. 59, turning east onto Main Street. As the parade approaches 2nd Avenue, Mayor Kurt Maddox and several other local officials will cut the ribbon for the rejuvenated Main Street improvements. The 2017 Grand Marshals are Ken and Paulette Austin, owners of Austin Drug on Main Street.

Afternoon festivities will begin with an opening ceremony at 1:00 p.m. in Kindley Park where awards will be given for the youngest and oldest attendees as well as the person who traveled the farthest to attend Gravette Day. All In Youth Ministry of Beacon Baptist Church will provide a Kids Zone throughout the afternoon in Kindley Park. The Gravette Fire Department will host a Fireman’s Muster from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Main Street by the Bank of Gravett and provide Smoke House tours. 412 West will entertain the crowd with a mixture of rock, classic rock, and R&B. The band, whose members hail from Tontitown, Arkansas, was voted one of the top ten bands in Northwest Arkansas in 2014.

Pageants will begin at 4:00 p.m. at Kindley Park and include Pretty Baby, Tiny Tot, Little Miss Toddler, Little Miss Petite, Little Miss, Miss Tween, Miss Preteen, Miss Teen Gravette, and Miss Gravette. Pageant information and applications are available at www.gravettear.com.
