Gravette ranked among safest in AR

Savewise.com, a top source for Home Security and Safety advice, issued a report on 11/28/2016 ranking Gravette in the top 20 safest cities in Arkansas for 2016.

The report reads:

Home to many national treasures—such as Johnny Cash, former President Bill Clinton, and the country’s only operational diamond mine—the Natural State has plenty of reasons to be proud. Arkansas is known for leading the way to desegregation, and the same values and courage held by the Little Rock Nine are evident in the concerned citizens of the state’s twenty safest cities.

Greenbrier—a city steeped in resilience—claims our number-one spot for the second year in a row. Though the city has seen floods, droughts, and tornadoes, Greenbrier residents always pull together to keep their city safe. According to the most recent FBI Crime Report, Greenbrier reported only one violent crime and six property crimes. Overall, sixteen of the Land of Opportunity’s safest cities reported twenty or fewer violent crimes, and 95% reported zero murders.

Property crime is also kept to a minimum in these safe Arkansas communities. Because 80% of these cities are on our list for the second consecutive year, it’s no surprise that fifteen of them reported fewer than 100 property crimes and 75% had no incidents of arson.

You don’t need to find a three-carat diamond to know that living in Arkansas has its perks, and these twenty cities reassure you that it’s also safe. Explore our list to see if your Arkansas town is one of the safest in the state. Then, take a look at our Arkansas Home Security and Crime Prevention Center to learn how to enhance your personal and home security.

How We Chose the Safest Cities in Arkansas

To identify the 10 safest cities in Arkansas, we reviewed the most recent FBI Crime Report statistics from 2014, along with population data. We eliminated all cities with fewer than 3,000 residents as well as any cities that failed to submit a complete crime report to the FBI.

From there, we evaluated the remaining cities. We narrowed it down based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape, and robbery) and property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft) in each city. To further level the playing field, we calculated the likelihood of these crimes occurring out of 1,000 people in each city.
